Lesson 56: Filters in SSRS

                           How to use filters in SSRS.


  • Filters are used to filter the records with out using any parameters or where clause in the dataset
  • Firstly create a datasource, a dataset and select required fields into the table. Now right click on the dataset go to dataset properties and select filters on the left side.
  • In the Expression textbox who can select the required column on which you want to apply filter. Next in the operator select the filter condition.
  • Equal operator compares for the exact match, <> operator select everything apart from that, Like operator select if any part of the value matches condition.The syntax for both the cases is shown below.


  • >, >=,<,<= are direct comparisons with the value. Top N denotes the top N values for ex Top 5 gives 5 values. Same with the case of Bottom N, Top % and Bottom %. For the In operator you need to give values in quotes as shown below.Between operator selects the values in between.

Lesson 60: Create folders and Data sources by Report Manager in SSRS

How to create folders and Data sources by using Report Manager in SSRS Firstly select the report manager URL from reporting services configuration and go to the reporting services home. Next click on New Folder option and create a folder for data sources, also create various folder for Data Sets and Reports. Now click on the Details view in order to move or delete multiple reports at once. For creating a New Data Source click on the New Data source in the Home and provide the connection string, also connect using a service account so that we can provide access to that service account and every one uses that service account for connecting to the database. Finally after adding/deploying a report, select manage from the dropdown and choose the correct datasource .
